After the magnitude-9 earthquake, many people had a lot of hardship trying to escape from the tsunami and nuclear disaster. They encountered broken and cracked roads, a lack of fuel, traffic congestion, fallen rocks and trees, and many other difficulties. Every person who evacuated has a story of their struggle to get away. Here and there you used to be able to see bikes and abandoned cars that surely, also, have a story to tell.

When the tsunami hit the small village area of Morotake, located in the town of Namie, fifty people survived by running up the stairway of Suwa Shrine and staying at the top of the hill overnight.

From the hill, you can see the ventilation towers of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
